Day 17 – March 24, 2025
My favorite bible verse is James 1: 2-4.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking in anything.”
Notice James says “when,” not “if,” you face trials.
Twenty-four years ago, my husband Curtis Taylor developed Sarcoma cancer in his chest. Due to plastic surgery he would need, we were advised to go to M.D. Anderson in Texas. Most of the time we were there, it was just the two of us. I always went with him for his treatments in case I needed to drive. One day, as I was sitting in the cancer lab waiting for him to finish his treatment for the day, I was reading my Bible and came across this Bible verse. I had read the Bible, Old and New Testaments, many times but this verse was an eye opener. We were facing trials, and our faith was being tested. But the best part, prayers for us were being answered. Hallelujah.
Believe me, going through cancer treatment is a scary time with trials and challenges. This Bible verse took on a whole new meaning for Curt and me and helped us remember that in hard times your faith is being tested. When you are going through life trials you need to have a lot of faith and realize times may be hard, but God is there with you. Hard times help us develop a deeper trust in God.
My wish for you fellow Huntsville First worshippers is to TRUST GOD, read your Bibles, and pray for God’s guidance to help you build your faith.
God bless you all!
– Carolyn Taylor
Prayer: Dear God, we know that trials and testings will inevitably come. We try to prepare for them as best we can so that they don’t hit us unprepared. But that’s not exactly how wilderness works, usually hitting us when we least expect it. Help us to train in your word, as Jesus did, so that we can overcome anything we experience with an assurance that comes from faith in you. Amen.
