Jesus made his disciples a promise. He promised to send to them the very source of His own power – the power of the Holy Spirit. This promise was realized on Pentecost – and that power has been available to us every day since. Jesus taught us about the Holy Spirit, but He also put the third person of the Trinity on display through every step of His life – from the ordinary to the supernatural. The beauty of this relationship is that not only does Jesus teach us about the Holy Spirit, but as we become attuned to the Holy Spirit, He teaches us about Jesus.
Great awakenings can happen when we yearn after and actively seek the Holy Spirit’s intervention in our day-today lives. When we take a stand and say that the status quo, going with the flow, not rocking the boat, and doing what we’ve always done is no longer the way we are going to live our lives. When we decide that we want to see God’s Kingdom come and God’s will be done on earth, now, today, and we are willing to follow His lead to see that He can accomplish that very thing through – of all people – us!
