Sunday School
Several classes are now meeting again in person. Henry Everitt’s class will continue to host both in-person and Zoom concurrently.

In-Person Student Ministry
We’re not having Sunday Night United again until August.
In the mean time, check out our summer plans!

This Sunday, August 1, we will look at Ephesians 4:1-16. It has been said that discipleship to Jesus is either profoundly relational or it is not discipleship to Jesus. The humility, gentleness, & patience called for in this passage do not happen in a vacuum, but as we bear with one another in love. Paul goes further, spelling out APEST (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Shepherds, and Teachers) gifting as the genetic code of the body of Christ. As a member of this body, I am a chromosome on a strand of its DNA seeking to build up rather than tearing down the body of Christ.

THIS SUNDAY! The family of Huntsville First has a rich heritage of loving our children into the Father’s nest, and the lay volunteers that serve with this goal in mind have been the backbone of our ministry for decades.

This event is designed to thank, inspire, and equip our 2021-2022 volunteers to move forward with confidence in their lay ministry with our children. Dinner will be provided, along with entertainment and a message of gratitude, encouragement, and vision for the school year ahead.

We look forward to serving all of our Family Ministry volunteers on Sunday, August 1 from 5-7PM in the Wesley Center. Register HERE.

UPGRADE SUNDAY marks the beginning of our new Sunday School year and will be the day when each student moves up from the grade they were in last year. It is a celebration of all that we accomplished (and survived) during the past year, and of everything we have to look forward to this year!

Join us Sunday, August 8 at 10am in the Wesley Center as we gather together to celebrate this moving up and moving on in our faith journey, fastening our hearts to the future.

As part of this celebration, we will also hold a backpack blessing where we pray over backpacks and the shoulders that will be carrying them into the ‘21- ’22 school year.

Confirmation of 6th and 7th graders is a significant milestone on their journey of faith. As we inform and disciple these precious children, we not only teach the tenets of our Methodist faith, but we also nurture and develop healthy Christian relationships that can serve as a bedrock for faith as they head toward adulthood.

Parents are encouraged to approach this season as an opportunity to develop deeper relationships with other Christ-followers within the Huntsville First family, that their children may follow their example upon completion of confirmation classes and seek out ongoing relationships with peers and mentors alike at Huntsville First.

Confirmation classes begin Sunday, August 8 at 6PM in the Wesley Center, will include participation in Discovery Weekend, and will culminate with each baptized child who decides to follow Jesus and claim Him as their Savior being confirmed on Sunday, November 7. Register HERE.

We are so excited to welcome back our children’s choirs!

Rehearsals begin on Wednesday, August 11.

4:30-5:15 PM

Melody Singers (Ages 4–1st grade) are in room 212

Voices of Joy (Ages 2nd–5th grade) are in room 220

Join us as we learn about music and the good news of Jesus. All are welcome!

DISCOVERY WEEKEND

The beginning of a new school year is the perfect time for our students to come together for a time of bonding, worship, and a deep dive into the Word. Discovery Weekend allows for all of these objectives in a fun and festive camp atmosphere where our students (and hopefully many of their unchurched friends) can learn about themselves, each other, and Jesus almost around the clock.

Opportunities for leadership development occur naturally as our upperclassmen serve as mentor/ teachers to our junior high campers throughout the weekend, forging healthy relationships and developing a confidence solidly built on learning how to gently yet authentically disciple others. Our younger campers benefit from learning to know and trust the upperclassmen until that day down the road when they will become the mentor/teachers themselves.

Experiencing God’s Grace Through TRIBES Discovery Weekend will take place at The Vision Christian Camp & Retreat Center, this August 20-22. Click HERE to register your student.

LAKE DAY UPDATE: The students had a blast this past Sunday at their Lake Day hangout!

Church-wide Sunday School Class | Sundays @ 10am

Join Rev. Dr. Henry Everitt as we study Methodist Theology through the Hymns of Charles Wesley, focusing on the words and theology of familiar and perhaps not-so-familiar hymns in the United Methodist Hymnal.  Join us in person (MB 220) or click HERE for the Zoom link, and bring a hymnal!
