Main Building Room 305

Contact: Trisha & Mike Carter, mtcjcarter@bellsouth.net   mmffcc@yahoo.com

Homebuilders class has been around for years, but it continues to change and evolve.  Most members of the class are 40-65years old.  We typically use video-based studies that lead to interesting discussions.  We love to gather outside of class for social events and try to do that quarterly.  Serving together in the community with Huntsville First mission partners helps us to grow in faith.

Upper Room

Main Building Room 310

Contact: Myra Sanderson, mmsanderson@me.com

The class has focused on scripture with three major emphases.  First, we look at the context of the scripture during the period in which it was written. Second, we highlight key Greek or Hebrew words that expand the meaning of the verses. Finally, we discuss how these may assist us in a better application of the scripture in our own lives.    Presenting teachers bring additional highlights from theologians as well.   At times through the year, we also determine if we want to change the format to bring variety to our study.

Additionally, one Sunday a month we invite a representative from one of the missions our church supports to expand our knowledge of these areas of need and service. We have worked together in many of the missions of our church.  Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Habitat for Humanity, His Way, and Meals on Wheels are just a few of the missions we actively support. We also enjoy occasional social gatherings over dinner.

The age demographic is 50+.   Although our class currently consists of older adults, we are eager to have any age group join us.  We believe that in broadening our membership we will learn new perspectives and share life experiences that will be meaningful for all our classmates.

Faith Class

Main Building Room 313

Contact: Terry Lewis, terryTL@me.com

The Faith Class is a vibrant class of members age 70-90+.  This class is always full of good Bible lessons and great discussion. Strugglers

Main Building Room 220

Contact: Marilyn Hull, Marilyn.hull@me.com

The Strugglers Class is a great group of people mostly ranging in age from 50-80 years old, but with at least one class member in their twenties.  Everyone is welcome, and we love to welcome newcomers to the class!  Our name comes from recognizing that life has its struggles, but when we lean on God, and support each other in love, we can experience blessings even in the midst of our struggles.

We have interesting and informed studies of the Bible with great discussions.  We often study a book of the Bible together, but sometimes approach the scripture in a topical study.  Opinions and insights vary widely, and we grow from sharing the ways God speaks to us through scripture.  We enjoy gathering for social activities as well as serving together with our mission partners. Some of our members are regular volunteers with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a wonderful ministry that provides beds for children in our community who do not have beds.  Volunteers can participate in building the beds (with plenty of direction!), delivering the beds to the receiving families, and/or providing bed linens to go with the beds.  We support other ministries, too, such as our Chapel Church Christmas bash.

Our class is comprised of seekers.  We bring together varied and diverse perspectives in a safe, engaging, and fun environment where we can challenge and encourage each other to share views, experiences, and questions on faith, family, and life.  We seek to delve deeper into our continuing evolution of faith and spirituality, and what it means to be a Christian, Methodist, and skeptic; and how our unique views of spirituality can empower our community.  Most of our members are in their late 30s through late 50s.  We occasionally gather outside of church for fellowship over food and drink.

Mustard Seed Class

Main Building Room 309

We’re the Mustard Seed Class.  In scripture, the mustard seed is called the smallest of seeds, yet it grows into a mighty tree.

Together, we try to grow our tiny seeds of faith into something really useful.  We use lots of Bible-based learning experiences, like scripture reading, video and book studies, personal discussions, and hands-on mission projects.

We also gather for parties or other fun events outside Sunday School two or three times a year.

All ages and life stages are welcome.  You can just come and participate if you want, or volunteer as facilitator for a week or two during the year.
