Our mission as a Student Ministry here at Huntsville First is to LOVE students and their families while we WALK with them in their path to discipleship. These can be fun, confusing, challenging, and rewarding times and we want to be present for it all. Our ultimate goal is to create a safe environment for all students to THRIVE, knowing they belong and are welcomed, loved, and accepted by Jesus Christ.
Weekly Programming
UNITED Sunday Nights: This is our primary programming at Huntsville First for our students. During this time, we share a meal, play games, worship through song, hear a message from a leader or students, and meet with our small groups. We purposefully have created small groups, led by adult leaders, who are walking weekly with our students.
Sunday Nights | 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. | HFUMC Wesley Center
Sunday School: All Students (6th through 12th grade) are welcome to join us each Sunday morning in Room 207 for Sunday School. This a great opportunity to grow in your faith weekly as we dive deeper into Scripture and have meaningful discussions on we can live out our faith throughout our daily lives.
Sunday Mornings | 10:00 – 10:50 a.m. | HFUMC Wesley Center (Room 207)
Weekly Small Groups: We purposefully have created small groups, broken up by grade and by gender, to allow students the chance to walk alongside one another in their walk with Christ. Small groups are designed to help equip our students to grow in their faith and feel confident to live it out. These led by adult leaders who are walking with our students.

Rhys Ferguson | Director of Student Ministries
Hey everyone, my name is Rhys Ferguson, and it is my honor to serve here at Huntsville First as the Director of Student Ministries. I have a true passion for supporting students and their families as they grow in their faith alongside one another. I am grateful to have the opportunity to walk alongside you and your family!
I am originally from Birmingham, Alabama and have been serving in full-time ministry for over six years. I graduated from Auburn University with my Journalism degree before changing paths to follow God's call to serve in Student Ministry. I also hold a Masters of Arts in Youth Ministry from the Ministry Leadership Institute and Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. I have been serving here in Huntsville since the Summer of 2026 and it's been incredible to call this amazing community home, alongside my wife, Chloe, and our rescue retriever, Rowdy!
When I am not serving here at the church, I love to spend time with my friends and family and explore new places. I also enjoy going out for a run, playing basketball, reading, and taking Rowdy on walks around the neighborhood. I am also a huge fan of all Auburn sports and the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA!
