Sister Song

May 5

Sister Song is an acoustic female trio sharing faith-based music with guitar, keyboard, and harmony vocals. Kathleen Phraner is a vocalist who sings for civic & religious events, leads worship at her church, and enjoys vocal coaching. Paula Rhea grew up singing with her sisters and plays worship music for church and at faith gatherings. Connie Watkins sings and plays guitar for worship and has a Bluegrass/Americana duo with her husband, Allen.

The Woodpickers

May 12

The Woodpickers are a collection of musicians with day jobs (mostly) that came together out of friendships and a love of music. What started out as in-the-round picking on a back porch or in a den evolved into a group that is actually, kinda, in demand.

They never take themselves too seriously but feel deep gratitude for the camaraderie, humor, and the occasional well-played song.

The Woodpickers have played Merrimack Hall, Mars Music Hall, numerous fundraising causes, many private parties, and other venues. Their objective is to have a good time and to have their crowds walk away humming one of their tunes while wearing a smile.

Melea Horton

May 19

Melea has always had a love for music, grew up singing, and added the guitar as an adult. She laughs as she describes her journey as the “Mid-Life Crises Worldtour.”

She has played alongside other musicians at church, Burritt Museum, Tate Farms, and private parties. Come along on the solo run and enjoy music she is sure you know.

Christopher and Demi

May 26

Christopher and Demi are a husband-and-wife duo based in Huntsville, AL. They are both on the worship team for the New Song Service at Huntsville First, where they enjoy participating in the life of the church. Christopher and Demi may also be heard around town performing with Opera Huntsville, at the Church of the Nativity, and in various other venues in Huntsville. Demi holds a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from Jacksonville State University and a Master of Music degree from the University of Mobile. She also studied in Germany as part of the International Performing Arts Institute. Christopher studied organ performance at The Juilliard School, holds a diploma with honors in harmony from the Nadia Boulanger Summer Institute, and is currently enrolled in Berklee College of Music (online) studying composition for film, TV, and games. They perform a wide variety of music, ranging from folk to sacred and classical. Demi and Christopher live in Meridianville, AL, with their dog, a mutt named Christian Jazz. For this program, @ the purple doors, they will play and sing music by Bob Dillan, Cher, Elvis, John Denver, and more.
